1. What is ‘Voices of Young Muslims’?
Voices of Young Muslims is a platform created to encourage young Muslims to step forward, build confidence and share their love for the Quran and Adhan.
The competition features two categories:
- Young Muazzin — for boys to showcase their Adhan
- Young Qariah — for girls to showcase their Quran recitation
More than a competition, we hope this experience encourages children to take their first step, grow in confidence and discover their potential as young Muslims.
2. Who can participate?
The competition is open to young Muslims within the following age categories:
- 4–6 years old
- 7–12 years old
- 13–16 years old
Participants must fall within the applicable age category according to the competition's age eligibility requirements.
3. Does my child need to be an experienced reciter or Muazzin?
No.
Your child does not need to be a professional or highly experienced performer to participate.
Whether they are taking their first step or have been practising for years, we encourage young Muslims to participate, gain experience and build confidence.
You don't have to be perfect to begin.
4. Is this competition only for children who are already very good?
Not at all.
While participants will be assessed based on the competition criteria, Voices of Young Muslims is also about the journey of stepping forward and having the courage to try.
We welcome children at different stages of their learning journey.
5. Does my child need to attend Quran classes or madrasah to participate?
Participation is not limited to children enrolled in a particular school, madrasah or Quran programme.
As long as your child meets the competition's eligibility requirements, they are welcome to register.
6. Can my child participate if they have never joined a competition before?
Absolutely.
In fact, this may be a wonderful opportunity for a child experiencing a competition for the first time.
We want the experience to help children become more comfortable stepping forward, sharing their abilities and performing in front of others.
7. Will there be prizes?
Yes, there will be recognition and prizes for finalists.
Full details regarding finalists and prizes will be shared with registered participants.
8. How does the competition work?
Participants will submit a video of them calling the Azan, which will then be evaluated through preliminary judging by our core judges and Instagram voting. Finalists will be selected based on the combined results of the judges’ scores and Instagram voting.
The specific submission format, competition requirements, judging criteria, important dates and other details will be shared with participants after registration.
9. What happens after I register?
Once registration is completed, parents/guardians will receive the relevant competition information and instructions through email.
This will include the details you need to prepare your child for the competition.
We encourage parents to read through the information carefully.
10. What should my child do to prepare?
The best preparation is simply to practise consistently and confidently.
Encourage your child to:
- - Practise their recitation or Adhan regularly
- - Focus on proper pronunciation and delivery
- - Practise in front of family members
- - Become comfortable using their voice
- - Understand that making mistakes is part of learning
- - Most importantly, have the right intention and enjoy the experience
You don't need to put pressure on your child to be perfect.
Help them prepare, encourage them, and let them take that first step.
11. Is this competition about winning?
Winning is only one part of the experience.
At YouM, we believe that competitions can also be a meaningful way for children to develop confidence, courage, discipline and a willingness to step forward.
Our hope is that every participant walks away with something valuable, regardless of the final result.
12. Who can register my child?
A parent or guardian should complete the registration on behalf of the child.
13. I have more questions. Who can I contact?
